THESE SHIMS ARE FOR LARGE DISPLACEMENT HIGH OUTPUT ENGINES.  WE HAVE BUILT A GREAT MANY HIGH OUTPUT ENGINES OVER THE YEARS. THESE SPACERS ARE SUPERIOR TO UNDER CYLINDER SPACERS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

-THE COPPER MATERIAL FORMS A BETTER SEAL THAN A STEEL CYLINDER AGAINST AN ALUMINUM HEAD.

-YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE CYLINDER AND POSSIBLY  THE PISTON TO INSTALL THESE SHIMS.

-YOU WILL NOT EXPERIENCE THE OIL LEAKS THAT CAN DEVELOP WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO SEAL THE UNDER CYLINDER SHIMS.  THIS CAN BE A SERIOUS TIME CONSUMER TRYING TO FIX A LEAKY CYLINDER THAT IS COVER WITH SOME FORM OF SEALANT THAT IS NOW MIXED WITH OIL.

-IT IS WAY QUICKER TO CHANGE OUT VARIOUS SHIM THICKNESSES TO ADJUST TO THE COMPRESSION YOU DESIRE.

-WE HAVE QUIT USING THE STEEL UNDER CYLINDER STEEL SHIMS ON ALL OF OUR ENGINES AND NOW USE THESE EXCLUSIVELY.

THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF CRUSH ASSOCIATED WITH THESE SHIMS.  MAKE SURE THEY ARE PLACED SQUARELY ON TOP OF THE CYLINDERS.

Empi Copper Cylinder Head Gaskets For 94mm Vw Pistons. Copper Cylinder Shim Gaskets Sit In Between The Piston Barrel And The Cylinder Head. This Creates A Superior Seal Between The Barrel and The Head.
Commonly Used For Setting Up Piston Deck Height For Desired Compression Ratio's On Volkswagen Air Cooled Engines.
