DESCRIPTION
A smart, uniformly bound collection of the Census of England and Wales for 1901, including all counties A to Z, as well as the islands in the British Seas.
Printed for His Majesty's Stationary Office in 1903.
Volume I contains counties A to C, including the following: Anglesey, Bedford, Berks, Brecknock, Buckingham, Cambridge, Cardigan, Carmarthen, Carnarvon, Chester, Cumberland and Cornwall.
Volume II contains counties D to H, including the following: Denbigh, Derby, Devon, Dorset, Durham, Essex, Flint, Glamorgan, Gloucester, Hants (Southampton), Hereford, Hertford, and Huntingdon.
Volume III contains counties K to M, including the following: Kent, Lancaster, Leicester, Lincoln, London, Merioneth, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Montgomery.
Volume IV contains counties N to S, including the following: Norfolk, Northampton, Northumberland, Nottingham, Oxford, Pembroke, Radnor, Rutland, Salop, Somerset, Stafford, Suffolk, Surrey, and Sussex.
Volume V contains counties W to Y, including the following: Warwick, Westmorland, Wilts, Worcester and York. Also including Summary Tables and Emigration and Immigration information.
Volume VI contains census records for the islands of the British Seas, including the Isle of Mann, Jersey, and Guernsey and adjacent islands. It also contains a general report with appendices to the rear.
Included for each county is information on the area, houses, population, marriages, occupations, birthplaces, and infirmities. Each county also includes a folding map as issued, collated and complete.
This set was previously housed in the Nottingham Free Public Libraries and has been rebound in uniform cloth library binding. They also contain the typical library stamps and stickers throughout.

CONDITION
Uniformly rebound in blue cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some minor shelf wear and bumping to the heads and tails of the spines. Libris stamps and pockets to the front pastedowns and front free-endpapers of each volume. Typical libris stamps on the odd page throughout the volumes. Internally, rear hinge to Volume II, front hinge to Volume III failed at page vi, front hinge to Volume IV failed with tears to first page, rear hinge to Volume V failed. Pages remain bright and clean.
