O-ring, Cam angle sensor, MX-5

Cam / crank angle sensor O-ring, Mazda MX-5 & Eunos Roadster mk1, all models 1989 to 1998. Aftermarket part.

Note that this is a viton o-ring, and is indistinguishable from the genuine part.

Probably the most common cause of oil leaks on an MX-5, particularly noticeable shortly after the cam angle sensor has been moved to adjust ignition timing.

IMPORTANT: If you have a 1.8 mk1 MX-5 or Roadster and this has been leaking, it drips oil onto the heater hose at the back of the engine.  This softens the hose and can make it permeable causing water loss and possible overheating.  Check the hose and if it feels softer than the other heater hose, change it.  We sell the heater hoses individually or as part of a kit in our ebay shop.
